Gypsy
|
Town: Callington, Cornwall,
United Kingdom
Deaf dog: Gypsy is a 3 year old Working Sheep dog. Gypsy was
born deaf, I did not know she was deaf when I rescued her, although
it makes no difference. She knows lots of signals, to many to list.
She does agility very well and soon will be competing. Her temperment
is perfect in everyway with everyone. she's just as safe off lead
as any other dog. If you're thinking of getting a dog, get a deaf
one you won't be dissapointed. They are no harder to train if not
easier, There is also NO excuse for returning/dumping a dog because
you found out the are deaf, they make fantastic pets.
Human companions: Becky and her partner
Other pets: German Shepherd (Ky) labrador (Rio), 3 Ferrets
(Donnie, Tia, Pheobe

Town: Bridgwater, England
Deaf dog: Elsa is an 11 year old Jack Russel cross. My dog
was from the rspca cat and dogs home in Bristol. she was found as
a stray wandering around Bristol. I already had one male jrt and
wanted a female. She was just what Ii wanted and I wasn't going
to let her deafness put me off. Ii have always trained and worked
with dogs so I saw it as an opportunity. I had excellent advice
and training from a local trainer, and have taught my dog to respond
to hand signals. Sometimes she is more responsive than my hearing
dog who just pretends he can't hear! We have taken part in line
dancing and demonstrations at local shows. She has a fantastic character
and I would not have any problems with taking on another deaf dog.
I have had 2 babies since having her and she has been as good as
gold with both of them, sometimes quite protective when the cat
is around! she is 11 years old and extremely fit and healthy and
likes to pick up hedghogs! I wouldn't swap her for any other dog!
Human companions: Tracey Phillips, two children and partner
Other pets: 1 cat, 2 rats and goldfish

Town: Swindon, England
Deaf dog: Lucy is white boxer and is our first deaf dog. We
were looking for a white female boxer and heard of a litter which
had 2. We were aware that one of them was possibly deaf and this made
up our minds before going to look at them, that we would have them
both - gluttens for punnishement!! So we are now the proud parents
of 2 beautiful girls Lucy & Holly. Lucy loves to learn and is
often asked to show off in front of everyone at training class.
Out of the 2 dogs Lucy is the trouble maker - if you ever see a bit
of white flashing past you doing something they shouldn't, you can
bet it will be Lucy - Holly her sister just looks at you all innocent
(not!!).
Human companions: Jo, Dave & Lauren
Other pets: Holly, Lucy's sister

Deaf dog: Timone is an 8 week old Jack Russel Terrier.
"We knew that he was deaf when we got him and he is so far proving
to be a joy. We will be training him with mainly ASL and also some
other hand signals.
It will be a challenge but a good one and I'm sure he will teach us
more than we could teach him."
Human companions: Rachel Duncan, her Partner and two children
Other pets: Golden labrador, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, pond of
