Star and Twiglet

Town: Sudbury, Suffolk, United Kingdom
Deaf dog: Star is a 5 year old Dalmatian. Star was my 1st deaf dog, both my girls came to me through All Dalmatian Rescue which I now home check for.
She is a happy go lucky laid back girly with a heart of gold.
star enjoys obedience, agility and heel work to music and is getting ready for her gold kennel club good citizen award. Star is a great ambassador for Dalmatians and deaf dogs alike and has even joined me to do a talk for school children.

Twiglet is a 4 year old Dalmatian. Twiglet was abandoned onto the street at a very very young age and landed herself in a pound where she was due to be put to sleep. It was a joint effort between North of England Dalmatian Rescue and All Dalmatian Rescue that twig came to be with me (yay) she hasn't been an easy dog (nothing like star) but I had to 'up my game' to make it work. We are now awaiting our kennel club registration on the activity register so we can go on to compete in agility this year. twig also enjoys obedience and heel work to music and of course she loves agility :) twig is now getting ready for her silver good citizen award.

Deaf dog: Skye is a ten week old Border Collie, she has one blue eye but isn't blind! I recently discovered that she was deaf. This was a great shock although she has got a lot of white on her. I call her my special baby!! I got her from a friend that breeds border collies professionally, but no one wanted her .As soon as I saw her I knew she had to be mine.It doesn't bother me that she is deaf, in fact I feel a lot closer to her. I love her with all my heart!!!! She has got such a great character and I don't see her to be any different to any other dog I know!! Poppy
Poppy
Town: Lowestoft, Suffolk, United Kingdom
Deaf dog: Poppy is a one year old Dalmatian. "My son was doing work experience at a rescue kennels when Poppy's mum was brought in as a pregnant stray. She had her pups at the kennels and when the pups were old enough they were sold. Poppy was brought back after 3 days when her new owners discovered that she was deaf at her first vet check. My son asked me if we could take her otherwise she was going to be moved to another rescue centre. I went to see her and fell in love. She was 9 weeks old and only half the size of her 3 brothers that were left and she is still small for a Dalmatian, but I'm sure she is a pedigree. She soon learned some signs for sit, down, say please, come here, no etc. and she is very good at reading body language(peoples and dogs. I can walk her off lead as she's very good at keeping with me and she keeps checking back with me. My hearing Belgian Shepherd dog soon learned to "go get Poppy" and they are the best of friends."
Human companions: Ruth Shaw, her husband, Steven, 19 yr old daughter, Kristie and 17 yr old son, Kristian.
Other pets: A hearing Belgian Shepherd, Kim' and a cat called Stinky.
