Duncan |
Town: Nipawin, Saskatchewan
Deaf dog: Duncan is a 1 year old Doberman Pinscher. Duncan's
deafness came as a big surprise for all of us. The breader wasn't
aware of his condition. It was only after about a month of odd behavior
that we began to suspectt things and then the vet confirmed that Duncan
is indeed deaf. A birth defect left Duncan with no holes in his head.
After doing many different sound
tests we've confirmed that Duncan can't hear anything. It makes him
very easy to live with and very little upsets him. He is not the watch
dog we thought he was going to be but that has not changed our love
for him.
Human companions: Dan, Donna, Mark and Kristina
Other pets: Scout and Toby the house cats

Teddy
|
Town: Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan
Deaf dog: Teddy is a 12 year old Maltese. His family says
"My dog was fine until last spring when we realized he was no longer
tearing for the door when the doorbell rang. He must have gone deaf
gradually. He still hears very loud noises and whistles. He did
have a very bad ear infection about three years ago. I wonder if
that was how it started. It has made him very anxious and he is
always worried about where I am and follows even closer than before.
Teddy is my second maltese. They are the world's most loyal and
lovable dog!"
Human companions: My husband and I (Joan Schindel)have three
children who no longer live at home. They are all dog lovers.
Other pets: We have 5 cats.
