Town: Mirabel, Quebec
Deaf dog: Gypsy is a 5 month old Dachshund who came from a breeder. We took her home knowing that she was born deaf and ready to deal with this. She was (and still is) so friendly and so sweet.
Human companions: Anick and family
Other pets: Merlin (dog, Pyrenees cross)and our 3 cats

Town: Hudson, Quebec
Deaf dog: Attya is a Lleuwelyn Setter. We adopted her from a no kill shelter, we only found out she was deaf once we got her home. At first I was unsure about the situation, but within 1 week all my
doubts about myself adapting to a deaf dog vanished. She is my third dog in 23 years and she is fantastic, smart, clean, sweet and playful. WE LUV HER
Human companions: Heidi, Leo, Matt and Michael

Town: Montreal, Quebec
Deaf dog: Jack Bauer is a 4 1/2 month old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I'm only in the early stages of training my little guy. So far he has learned to sit, lie down, come, & come for hugs. We're presently working on stay & stand up. He is full of life & very lovable. He plays very well with other dogs both big & small & enjoys daily runs in the park. He was the only deaf puppy in the litter & the breeder told me they only had one other deaf puppy 15 years ago. Even though we didn't know he was deaf at the time we adopted him, we all love him and would never consider giving him back. We're hoping that the cats will some day learn to love him too. The only negatives are his excessive barking at times & biting when he gets all wound up. I just bought a citronella collar that is controlling the barking & am hoping the biting problem will cease as he gets older. For the time being we hold his mouth closed & shake our heads letting him know it's not acceptable behaviour.
Human companions: Irene, John, Kaitlyn & David Labelle
Other pets: 4 cats, Felix, Meggie, Pee-Wee & Hobbes

borduas patch painted beauty

Town: St-Amable, Quebec
Human companions: stephane my husband, my 2 sons...maxime et gabriel.
Other pets: 1 boston terrier. 2 cats . 2 birds

Camera shy
Town: Hudson, Quebec
Deaf dog: Keiko is an English Setter who we received from a breeder that wanted to put her to sleep because she was deaf. We took her to school (she graduated 3rd out of 10 hearing dogs) - she now knows 12-15 signs, however we are having a hard time with her these days - she won't look at us, let us pet her, all she does is run around all day. She has started to eat our walls - we are yet to catch her doing this, to teach her otherwise. Anyone who has advice, please help!
Human companions: Christine Nadeau and my husband
Other pets: Jack, the 1 year old bassethound - Fitz our cat - that rules the house
