Poppy
Town: Roslindale and West Warren, Massachusetts
Deaf dog: Poppy is a 1 and a half year old German Shorthaired Pointer. Poppy is a fun loving, energetic and intelligent girl. I love working and playing with her. Her favorite activities are fetch (if you throw it, she will get it, no matter what it is) and sleeping on the couch. She loves romping at the dog park with her dog buddies. She knows many signs, and is currently loving scent training. This makes her focus, and she is born to do this. We love it!

I use sign with Moxie and she knows around 25 different ones. The day I brought her home, I began waking her by touching different spots to ensure that her startle would be appropriate. She is a great dog but was and is a lot of work. She loves stuffed toys and anything that smells like me.

No one knew he was deaf until we got home alone and he did not respond to us calling him. In three days we were so in love with his sweetness and happiness, we had to add him to our family. Cotton is "love in a dog suit". He smiles and wags his tail during all of his waking hours and he has become a favorite in our neighborhood. He is also a certified therapy dog who has worked with deaf children for the last 5 years.
