Toby
|
Town: Luverne, Alabama
Deaf dog: Toby is a 6 month old Olde English Bulldogge. He
is a great dog! He's very intelligent and loving. He already knows
signs for 'come here/follow me', 'no' (I think most young puppies
get that a lot!), 'stop', 'sit', 'daddy'; we're working on 'down',
'potty', 'walk' and 'watch me'... he's almost completely housetrained,
and although I know he's full-blooded OEB, somewhere back there
is some goat- he LOVES to climb and stand on things, like my end
tables, or boxes. Most folks who see him wouldn't realize he's deaf,
because of how he responds to me and our other dog Caleb.
Human companions: Beth Rogers, Husband Randy, kids Joey and
Jennifer

Tika
|
Town: Madison, Alabama
Deaf dog: Tika is a 3 year old Miniature Pinscher. She is
the most special little soul ever to be put on this earth. She was
beaten and kicked as a pup for being "stupid and untrainable".
She was brought to me for evaluation and I promptly discovered she
was deaf. She now has been taught sign language and with the help
of her pack mates she is completely housetrained. She asks to go
out, and sits on command... comes when "called". She is
NOT stupid or untrainable and I feel sorry for her previous home
who never got to know the real Tika.

takes his treats without grabbing and knows when it is time for that

behind her back to test her for deafness. Yep!! Deaf! :) She learned

about ten local vets when we discovered that she could not hear. We
were amazed at the response. The ones that weren't in returned her
call. The response was she would make a great pet! Today we took her
