Deaf dog: Blaise is a 9 month
old Dalmatian. I show and occasionaly breed Dalmatians so am well
aware of the deafness problem in our breed. All my puppies go out
with the Bauer hearing test and I do not put down if they are deaf.
My policy is to keep. Thank goodness I have only bred 3 deaf dogs
ever. She is very eager to learn and follows the other pups as I kept
3 from the last litter. She will be trained to do PAT and we are going
to try with Jumping when she is older. She is a very happy puppy as
long as she is with the family or a sibling. I love her dearly. We
are going to try the vibration collar to see if this will help her
when she is out of my distance to attract her attention. I'm trying
to educate the people in this country that a deaf Dog can be a great
pet
Human companions: June and her Son
Other pets: 8 other Dallies

Deaf dog: Ouzo is a 6 month
old PitBull Terrier. We recently bought 'Ouzo' as we needed a new
dog in our family. We currently have an 11 yr old Staffy 'Bessie'
who is absolutely lovely, but was very lonely since we lost our
male staffy 'Butch'. Ouzo absolutely stole our hearts the day we
met him! But unfortunately recently found out he was deaf. We are
currently looking into all the different ways of training him. A
challenge we look forward to as we love him dearly. We have created
a email address for him ouzosoltau@yahoo.com
and we are happy for any info you may have to help.
Human companions: Mike, Antoinette, Sarah-ann & Murray
Other pets: Bessie (Staffie) and Taz (Jack Russell)

Deaf dog: Raven is a Blue Heeler.
Raven arrived recently with us, after we found her at the SPCA -
she was on her last days, and had her pen enclosed completely to
try to reduce her stress, as she wasn't eating at all. It was only
after we had had her home for about a week, somewhat confused by
her apparent disregard for us, that we realised that she was completely
deaf. The cause is unknown though probably congenital, and she is
estimated to be about a year old. She has finally found her feet
and is truly a sweetheart though training is difficult with the
many distractions our particular situation offers - and a lot of
space for her to romp which makes it hard to call her home!
Human companions: Rick and Carolyn - owners, Renetta and
Damien, senior staff - she is our "reptile park dog" at
Perry's Bridge Reptile Park.
Other pets: At the park, Viper and Hazel the cats, and PumPum,
Peaches and Pumpkin the pigs - Raven has taken a liking to fighting
with Viper which is causing us some concern.

Deaf dog: Angel-Cake is a 1
year old Great Dane. Angel was recued at the age of 5 months, her
previous "owner" didn't know she was deaf, so they assumed
she was stupid. Angel was locked away as she was "un-trainable".
When we adopted her she had no people skills, couldn't associate
with other animals and worst of all, Angel didn't know how to play...
7 months later, Angel is the love of my life. She has such a passion
for life and everyone around
her. She now plays and romps with her other fur mates..
Human companions: Melinda, Madison-Willow (4yrs) and very
tolerant Hubby
Other pets: Talulah-Belle and Chloe (Yorkies)and Coco (Doxie)

Deaf dog: Radar is a 1 year
old Boxer. We got Radar from a wonderful breeder. She is one of
the few breeders in the country that doesn't euthanise her white
boxer pups. Radar is a sweetheart in every sense of the word.
He has completed his puppy and beginner obedience classes, and he
steals the hearts of everyone he meets! He is a great ambassador
for deaf dogs, and we are actively working to dispel all the silly
deaf dog myths that people believe.
Human companions: Mark and Verity
Other pets: Tati (hearing Boxer)
